WHAT IS A COLD ROOF?
A cold roof places the insulation between or just above the ceiling joists, below the roof deck. This means the roof structure (rafters, deck, etc.) remains “cold” because it sits above the insulation layer and is exposed to outside temperatures.
How it works:
Insulation is installed at ceiling level.
The loft space and roof structure are uninsulated.

WHAT IS A WARM ROOF?
